Join Us in Supporting Families and Strengthening Our Community
Our Connect Early Programs offer a range of opportunities for community members to volunteer, support others, and be involved in meaningful community activities. Whether you enjoy engaging with young children in a group setting alongside a facilitator, or providing in-home support to families, there’s a role for you.
Volunteering with Connect Early is a wonderful way to meet new people, give back to your community, and make a positive difference in the lives of families with young children. By offering your time as a volunteer, you help create welcoming, safe, and nurturing spaces where children can learn and play, and where parents feel supported. Every contribution, whether helping with play activities, preparing snacks, or assisting facilitators behind the scenes, plays an important part in building a strong, connected community.

Supported Playgroups
Heatherbrae and our playgroup at Katoomba North Public School offer warm, welcoming spaces where families can relax, connect, and enjoy play with their young children.
As a Volunteer within Supported Playgroups, you may offer:
- A warm welcome to families, helping create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere
- Assistance with setting up and packing away play areas, keeping the space ready and inviting
- Making cups of tea, preparing snacks, and providing a supportive presence for parents
- Supporting children’s play and activities alongside facilitators, helping to create a safe and enjoyable environment
These roles are ideal for volunteers who enjoy hands‑on play, community interaction, and helping families feel at ease.
Connect and Nurture – In‑Home Support
Volunteers are thoughtfully matched with families to provide in‑home support for up to 2 hours per week over a 6‑month period.
As a CAN volunteer, you may offer:
- Warm community connection
- A non‑judgmental listening ear
- Light assistance around the home
- Play and engagement with children
- A friendly cup of tea and heartfelt conversation
Volunteers build meaningful connections with families through regular visits of around two hours per week, helping to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental environment. Through your presence, you will help reduce isolation, promote wellbeing, and empower families to feel more confident in their day-to-day lives.
